Welcome

Rochester Tavern and Accommodation

The Rochester Tavern is a classic Victorian Hotel built in the centre of Rochester in the 1870′s and was originally called The Commercial Hotel.

Rochester is situated just 15 minutes south of the tourist town Echuca and the Murray River. Rochester is a friendly farming community built along side the picturesque Campaspe River.

The Tavern recently renovated, offers a great retreat, amazing meals, a private corporate meeting, or the perfect function! The diverse range of space offers a great experience for all at any occasion with its selection of Bars, Lounges and Dining rooms. This combined with the gracious Verandah, the crackling fireplaces, the pressed metal ceilings and leadlight windows throughout; you won’t be disappointed by the magnificent style and comfort of this old building. 2019 saw a new life for the Tavern with a crisp modern refurb in keeping with some of the finest.

When we talk about style you cannot miss the wonderment of the Redgum Bar situated at the front of the Tavern. This magnificent piece takes you back in time, whether just relaxing having a light lunch, an Ice Cold Beer, Local Wine or a Coffee by the fireplace, you will feel just at home with the calm atmosphere and the warm friendly staff.

As a part of the Heathcote wine region, the Tavern boasts a tempting wine selection featuring high-quality varieties from local vignerons along with an abundant selection of wines from numerous other regions. Red wine lovers will be perplexed with the range at their disposal, whilst there are more than enough whites and sparkling to satisfy any wine buff.

Should you need a breath of fresh air; there is an open and spacious Beer Garden to the rear of the Bistro. The large paved area is shaded by an old majestic Peppercorn Tree.

Upstairs you will find four tastefully renovated rooms with fully inclusive modern en-suites, plus the fabulous Balcony overlooking Moore Street with partial views of the night lit Painted Silos, the historic railway line and the beautiful Lions Park with its age old Date Palms and heritage listed rotunda.
